Summer Reading For Students Entering 7th Grade

2015-2016

  1. Students are responsible for reading three (3) books total. Each grade level has one (1) required book and then the students may choose two (2) from the other choices. The required book is marked with an asterisk (*).
  2. All students are responsible for obtaining their own copies of the books. Starting May 1st, books may also be ordered through the MBS Direct online book ordering system.
  3. In August, students will write an essay on the required book and will take AR tests on the other two books.
  4. Students may take AR tests over the summer on Wednesdays when the Moncrief Library is open. This allows students to test as they finish the books. Students may also elect to wait until the start of school to take AR tests on their summer reading books.

In Ponyboy’s world there are two types of people. There are the Socs, the rich society kids who get away with anything. Then there are the greasers, like Ponyboy, who aren’t so lucky. Ponyboy has a few things he can count on: his older brothers, his friends, and trouble with the Socs, whose idea of a good time is beating up greasers. At least he knows what to expect—until the night things go too far.
